#1: Drum to Disc conversion - Brake load compensator valve Author: LeeThr, Location: North West WalesPosted: Tue Jan 29, 2013 9:23 pm ---- Right got a 206 2l HDI with a shot back axle drums with no abs with load compensator valve on axle.
I have a good axle off my GTi which is discs & abs but no valve. Obviously I cant just swap the axles over and ignore this fact otherwise the bias will not be right.
Anybody done this before? What I need to know is can I simply unbolt the valve off the drum axle and attach it to the disc axle?
Any advice appreciated

Trouble is, it's not my car the axle is going on, so I cant risk it.

But the abs pump sort it all out and balances it when its all working. but if the valve can be fitted i don't see why it wont work?
Id sell the abs beam as they are worth twice as much, then just buy a non abs beam.

That valve is very important, wedge it open fully or lower your car so it pulls the spring so the valve is fully open and brake sharply then you will see why you need it to compensate. Lowered rear axles directly affect this system and makes the compensation valve in operative.
When open you have a 50/50 split and with the lighter back end having no weight it just spins round on you, making it just a touch dangerous

Is the valve literally unbolt of the old axle and bolt on to the new one?
Is it possible to adjust it to make up for the fact that the back end is lowered?
