Clutch Problem???

Hi

My clutch bites just before I take my foot off the pedal and I only have to touch the pedal very lightly for the revs to go up.

So I buy a new clutch and have it fitted at a cost of £280 only for the mechanic to tell me it did not need a new clutch as there in minimal wear but he fitted the new clutch anyway as I already bought it.

So what could the problem be???? Sad

Sounds like a badly adjusted clutch cable. I thought they were auto adjusted do get that checked. I'd have thought if the mechanic that fitted your clutch was half decent he'd know what was wrong. So don't go back to him.

It now makes a horrible clunk when starting and again when you turn off!
The mechanic has said its the gearbox!!!!

It was perfectly OK before he took 10 hours to changed the clutch!

What could he have done to the gearbox when changing the clutch!
He said he can put a 2nd hand gear box from the breakers yard in for me.

Advise please anyone!

I'd take it to a 'reputable' garage to get a second opinion. Then get your money back if they've messed up.
