#1: Centre Console modification (with Pics and now installed) Author: QuArTz, Location: South Coast PostPosted: Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:11 am

After Spraying my centre console gloss black >>link to previous thread<< I started to think about how I could incorporate a new look with some functionality.

So I collected some spare parts from an old pc and began modifiying another centre console.
I decided to cut out two holes in the console, one as a USB port and the other as a 5v USB charger.

Once I was happy with the sprayed finish I installed the USB cables and added a 12v-5v transformer, this will be connected to the 12v used for the cigar lighter.

My pioneer headunit has a USB socket in the back for reading memmory sticks and charging devices, I've tested all the cables and its ready to go..
So hopefully tomorrow, weather permitting, I will be able to install this and will have some 'fitted' shots.

Opinions allways welcome..

Installed the centre console today, now there's even more cables behind the dash Very Happy
Gave me a chance to didy them up tho..

All working and imo looks brilliant, no more cables hanging everywhere and the usb cable can come out of the glove box (which was also untidy.

Again opinions welcome..

Thanks for looking

Why do you need Alternating Current. Surely you mean a transformer?

Parts were taken from an old PC and the transformer is from eBay.

USB consists of 4 cables and a ground red +ve, black -ve, white and green are for data.
In this case for the 5v I just needed the red & black
