I paid £2700 for a 1.4 206 at 17 years old.

There also on boy racers insurance so that'll effect it greatly.

Owch that is expensive, I work for an insurance company, a big one, I wont say who, but 2400 is common place for a 17 year old on Direct Debit, one off payment would have only been about £1200, DD almost doubles it with interest

And to be honest mate all your planned mods seem to be a bit "2009"your better off buying OEM parts to make it look like a 180,

EG, sports bumpers, vortex alloys etc etc

would pay the straight up if i had it but just couldnt afford it haha! and i had been looking at them, the 180 vortex alloys are 17"s though? wouldnt that mess it up abit as my standards are 14's?:) always liked the look of low and deep dish maybe not on a standard cheap 206 but im willing to give it a go, will lower it and get the wheels on, debadge it and go from there:) cheers man!

Nah mate 17's are fine, I had a set of Vortex alloys on my 1.4 lx years ago, and that was lowered and it looked much nicer,

Just dont "chav it up" OEM standard is the new modified!! I'll have to get a photo up of my GTI HDI that I used to have, that looked awesome with just a standard look and lowered

I didn't know that Payday Loans now sold car insurance.

Which insurance company charges such a high APR? I would have thought maximum 30 maybe 40% increase, but not 100%. Name and shame this insurance company (or group) so we can all avoid them in the future. I'll also avoid the comparison site they own, double Nectar points or not.

Going from 14s to 16s is going to mess up the handling and geometry of the car anyway, so 17s probably won't make it much worse.

You're going to blow all this money on the bodywork, make the car heavier, bad handling and even slower than it was before.

Sadly I didn't look into the insurance when I bought my GTI diesel - I was even more naive when I thought diesels cost less to insure than petrols. It's now crap that adding parents to your policy gets the cost down - insurers have caught up with this now and I was told on the phone it'll cost me the same whether they are on it or not. I pay £365 a year but im 28 with 9 ncb, but still extortionate.

I paid £1700 a year on my 1985 Toyota Mr2 when I was 18 - that would have been a much better acquisition considering the engines produce 122bhp and are RWD Smile

Very odd indeed, both my parents were added onto my policy for free without asking, which was a nice option. I've had 2 pugs in the past 3 years, the first was a 1.6 cc which was like €2500 3rd party. I couldn't afford that,so at 19 I got a 1.4 (picture below). I now have 2 years no claims and insurence is coming down €300 a year!! This is with a company called AXA (dunno if there under another name in UK). I'm fully comp at €1600,dropping monthly (due to student polixy) well happy Very Happy be patient, but I would recommend you shop atound, that price seems mad for a stock 1.1 Surprised you have a full license?
