Not sure if the arch gap will be smaller but the car as a whole will be lower I would have thought?
If you want to lower the car do it properly....

i used one of those for my winter wheels,if i would have used the wrong tyre size it wouldnt fit.
turned out the 205/40-17 wheels are the same as the 195/55-15
