Diesel tap?
-> 206 Problems

This is regarding my 307 1.4hdi

I have noticed a slight tapping when accelerating.
It goes away when the engine has warmed up, but it also goes when it hits 3000rpm.

I've read a fair bit about this, but never a definitive answer as most usually never report back.

So I'm led to believe it could be either an injector sill, or the crank pully?

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the injectors location (I'm assuming the rear on the engine).

Also, how can I test the crank pully?

Many thanks
Ben

I had this in my 1.4 HDi, it was the hydraulic lifters. When you rev it past 3k the oil pressure gets high enough to make the clogged / sticking lifters work again.

How did you fix it?

By replacing all the lifters.

Looks like a big job Sad

I'm hoping to do my cam belt in the summer, maybe ill tackle them then.

Can it cause any damage leaving it for now?

I haven't noticed the car change in anyway at all.

I bought the car like that and drove around for 18 months before replacing the lifters. I did cambelt, waterpump and all the bits and bobs. Also while I was at it, serviced the turbo, cleaned all the carbon build up, blocked egr pipe, replaced glow plugs and injector seals. It took a long weekend.

Sounds like a plan.
