Yes I know a 1.4 hdi isn't quick anyway, but it's even slower than usual.

Any incline slows the car down to around 56 .. slower than the artics on the M1 and it struggles to get over about 2500-3000 rpm in 4th and 5th. ALmost like it's being strangled on the turbo isn't pushing ...

It's got just under 105K on the clock and it's regularly serviced .. by me!

Anyone have any ideas where to start?

No codes or EML ... Crying or Very sad

It has in the past given ERG valve errors, but that seems to have sorted itself.

Still, it passed the MOT today!

Turbo might be knackered

MAF sensor, if turbo sounds ok.

If it has a dpf, then the dpf may be partially blocked. If someone round by where you live has access to/owns a copy of Peugeot Planet/Diagbox, then personally I would ask them to plug it in and check the condition of the dpf filter. Your car may need a re-gen.

The 1.4hdi doesnt have a dpf.

Just about to reply with that ...

I've got PP2000 so I'll double check ... I used my Sealey code reader yesterday.

If the MAF sensor is like the MAP sensor on my Alfa, then it doesn't show up on the code readers unless it's completely dead. It has the same affect ... no top end power!

Thanks guys ... I've got something to start on ...

Quick update: removed MAF sensor and found one of the two heat elements were broken off .. so that's it then ... replacement ordered ...

Took the opportunity to clean out the oil from the intake pipes ... and replaced the air filter.

Update: Swapped out the MAF (and replaced very cracked aux belt and a very vet dirty cabin filter).

Monday morning, nothing really changed. Still sluggish ... was expecting to have to send MAP back. Coming home floored it to get on to busy roundabout ... and Pug went like a blue "bat out of hell" .... seems the BSI took a while to recognise it was working!

ECU not BSI. Whenever you change a sensor you should shut down the system, then reboot so that the ECU can relearn its parameters. Sounds like BS, but does make a difference.

Oops meant that.

On my Alfa I can clear the settings with my diagnostic software so it re-learns straight away. Couldn't find anything in PP2000, so didn't worry.

Anyway, took Pug up to Coventry and back yesterday, and I am sure it's going better than ever. So maybe the small metal strip falling off did me a favour (albeit not my wallet!).

I'll have to see how the MPG looks ... but pi$$ed off a couple of Porsche drivers on the M40. Didn't seem to like being overtaken by a small blue 206! Smile

How do I do that? Reset the ECU?

I'm having power issues again. Last week it was the glow plug controller and put car in limp mode. Changed that and it was fine. For three days sat with battery out as that unit is on back of the battery box and impossible to get to without taking box out.

Cleared the fault and that reset the EML light and on Tuesday was running perfectly.

Now, power gone again and feels "strangled". only fault is supposedly the clutch pedal switch P0704? which, considering I don't have cruise control, seems like it could be a red herring.

Im fairly sure MAF sensor won't give any codes when it goes bad. I replaced mine last week, the car had flat spot at 2900rpm and with new (genuine VDO MAF sensor) It's now resolved.

Thank Tela, but that's to soft boot the BSI .. I probably need to reset the ECU.

I'm about to plug my head under the bonnet and run a few diag checks with PP2000 so I'll see what happens.
