#1: Can I relocate the CAT??? Author: Timon2210, Location: Palestine PostPosted: Sat Mar 02, 2013 1:25 pm

Hello guys,
As title says,I wanna ask if I can relocate my car (1.4 8V) CAT,as you know it's located in front of the engine,so i'm thinking of changing it with a new one,but I want to know if change it's location would affect the car,and would there be EML light on because of the O2 sensor or not??

I'm thinking of fixing the new one under the engine.

As long as you extended the downstream sensor (lower one) to after the CAT, no problems will occur

The 1.4 8V have only one O2 sensor, and upper one,but there is a plug for a lower one ready for use.

I don't wanna gain anything from this as a power or other stuff like may other think of,but the reason of this question is that,my car done 100,000 Kilo meter on the clock, and I have recently start to smell like a rotten egg ,so I can't find a brand new one to fit ,so thinking of fitting a universal CAT,and locate it under the engine like other models

I think the reason it might be faulty, that the engine sound is rough running, like a tractor, and air flow is not as good as it should be,and how come you have 2 sensors, and I have only one ;),did you fitted it yourself :D?

If its placed under the engine, wont it be close to the floor?

It left the factory like that, downpipe cat with pre & post cat lambda sensors.

You cant really see the post cat sensor unless you get the car up on a ramp.

The pre cat sensor is just screwed in to exhaust manifold, then cat in the downpipe then another lambda sensor after the cat.

All the 2nd sensor basically does is check the cat is actually working correctly.
