Oil Leak - Head Gasket?
-> 206 Problems

#1: Oil Leak - Head Gasket? Author: Vandelay2 PostPosted: Tue Mar 05, 2013 4:02 pm

Hi, I noticed a small oil leak on my 206, not much but it was'not leaking previously.

I topped up the oil and it was a little milky around the filler Sad

The oil seens mainly around the sump but some some does appear to be coming from near the crank?

Can anyone tell anything much from these pics, my usual mechanic is not availalbe till next week and I need to get to work! Thanks Smile

Could simply be sump gasket seal, Needs to be checked though. Keep an eye on how much oil your using. I wouldn't worry about a white oil cap necessarily, if your car doesn't get a regular good run, condensation will build up here.

Looks like its coming from the back of the crank sprocket, so i would say its the crank seal or could be the camshaft seal running down. If its the latter it needs doing asap ,has oil on cambelt not good.
Take the top cambelt cover off, only two 10mm bolts, then shine a touch in behind cam sprocket and you will see it the cam seal is weaping. Also check the front timing belt side head gasket corner, has it could be running down from there like mine is.
I have just replaced both my oil seals, easy job on a 8v, if it needs doing good time too replace timing belt and water pump.

If it is the crank oil seal then the timing belt will have to be removed so might be a good opportunity to replace it along with the water pump and auxilliary belt if required. Thumb Up
