#1: Strut Top Author: Jasoon, Posted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 1:34 pm ---- This might seem like a stupid question but should the strut top bearing be visible with the car jacked up??
Had the car jacked up to change the drop link and when i had a look at the strut top from the inside i could see some of the strut top bearing...
#2: Re: Strut Top Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 2:13 pm ---- Shouldn't be able to see any bearing because the top mount holds it tight in the turret.
#3: Re: Strut Top Author: Jasoon, Posted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 2:26 pm ---- Thanks for the quick reply Edward
Didnt think i should have been able to see it....
Hopefuly that will explain the wired handling that ive been experiancing...
#4: Re: Strut Top Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:07 pm ---- Should be like this. The spring tension should hold the bearing against the top mount.
#5: Re: Strut Top Author: Jasoon, Posted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:31 pm ---- i can see the bearing where thru the hole in the part the spring sits against as if its out of line
#6: Re: Strut Top Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 11:45 pm ---- You got lowered springs? Sounds like the springs aren't the right overall length for the strut and thus move out of line when not on the deck...
Ed - tell me you gave that Billy a lick of paint before re-fitting?
#7: Re: Strut Top Author: Jasoon, Posted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 1:33 am ---- I haven't got the car lowerd

#9: Re: Strut Top Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 8:47 am ---- Jasoon - jack the car up again and see if you can move the spring pan while she's in the air. If you can and they are standard springs, your have problems!
Ed - like your thinking... and you are now the official 206info loan officer
#10: Re: Strut Top Author: Jasoon, Posted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 9:45 am ---- Looks like the bearings collapsed
#11: Re: Strut Top Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 10:27 am ---- F**king potholes.

#12: Re: Strut Top Author: Jasoon, Posted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 10:30 am ---- I know it's crap in Cumbria pot holes everywhere wouldn't mind trying to claim for it
