top mounts and rear beam
-> 206 Problems

#1: top mounts and rear beam Author: mr-pug, Location: chesterfield PostPosted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 7:19 am
    ----
Hi folks new to site and new to the 206, ive owned a 306 wich was an awsome motor
And a few 106's in the past but all bin problem free, ive managed to get hold of my black
180 cheap as its needing a little work, first thing is im getting an abs fault on dash so are
The abs sensors a comon problem, second is the rear beam has play on one side wich
Ive already looked up and found to be a common fault, I have a replacement ready to fit this weekend but wondered if it is worth having the worn one refurbished and fitting greasenipples for the bearings and uprated bushes if available, last problem is a near side top mount has gone, is it worth replacing both sides or just the one other than that the car is very clean and rust free even underneath so im happy, all advice welcome and appreciated and look forward to attending meets ect
Also any online shops or tunning advice appreciated

Thanks a lot folks, scott

ABS fault could be a split ring on the driveshaft, worth having a look first as that's a relatively cheap and easy fix. As for the beam, you could try replacing the bearing but the shafts might be damaged beyond repair. No way of telling until you get the arms off.

I'd just replace both top mounts, unless you know the OS has been changed recently.

Check your local region for any meets, events, etc.

You wont be able to rebuild a knackered beam, once the rust sets in it eats the pins aswell. You need new pins, and they're a sod to do without propper press.
