#1: Key Issue Author: stek, Posted: Mon Apr 01, 2013 5:55 am ---- Bought a 52 plate 206 LX for the Missus, good example, the archetypal one gentleman owner, 40k miles, FSH, very pleased with it but...
It cam with two keys, the Peugeot one with lock and unlock button and no LED and a plain one with no buttons.
Both keys worked perfectly ie started the car but the one with the buttons didn't lock or unlock the central locking as the buttons had perished.
Bought a fob casing off ebay, dismantled the key and simply replaced the casings, used original blade and circuit board. Replaced the battery too since it came with a new one.
Plain key starts the car fine, but not the plipper key. It locks and unlocks the doors, engine spins nicely but won't start, suspect in needs pairing but the guides one the net either don't work for me or relate to getting the locking working.
It did work prior to me dismantling it so no idea what I've done!
Cheers!
Steve

You'll also need the security card with the code on it. Should be with the handbook. If not there, you'll have to go to the dealer and ask for the code. Think it's about £30
I should have some virgin chips arriving in the next few days. If you need one, pm me.
You're not the first person to miss the chip, and won't be the last.
