#1: Keys remote locking and key locking confusion? Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: Spalding PostPosted: Thu Apr 04, 2013 9:36 am
    ----

When I bought the car 2005 model. It came with the two keys above. I am just in the process of changing to a flip key. So I thought I would test both keys.

This where I am confused.

Both keys above start the car so no issue there. The key with the remote fob locks and unlocks the car via the remote.

The other key will not lock or unlock the car at all?

Also the key with the remote will not unlock the car via the key when it has been locked with the remote?

So if I lose my remote key I basically can't get into the car, but if I could I would be able to start it. Also if the fob dies and the car is locked I am also in a mess.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks

Ok bit of an update. Tried both keys again. Pushed them in the key hole a bit harder. And both worked. But then then the remote fob stopped working. And the key was only locking and unlocking the drivers door.

Slammed the door and tried again via both key and fob and all doors locking as they should.

So there is obviously an issue with the lock or central locking?

Another piece of info- sometimes the car beeps like the door is open when going round bends.

Any one with more experience able to tell me what needs changing and the best way to do it?

Thanks

Cool thanks for the help Wink

Not sure to be honest what peugeot keys should look like this is my first pug. But the issue I think is the car and not the keys.

Been looking at other threads and extra info people may need....

All doors work in terms of the interior light and the locks are not bouncing??

They are the right keys for a multiplexed.

On some cars, if you lock with the remote, the key won't unlock the car because of the deadlocks. You have to turn left and right a certain number of times to undo the deadlock. Don't know if Peugeots are the same.

Sounds like you may have a solenoid going.

When you change to the flip key, don't forget the chip that's hidden in the corner of the case. Wink

Thanks macca good info as always! Just done the key and did not forget the chip! Wink

So if I have a solenoid issue am I right in assuming I can change this without affecting the keys or barrels? Also if I buy one second hand how do I know it is for a multi and not pre?

Do you think it is just the drivers door? Also is there a guide on here as I can't find one?

Thanks

I think they are all the same on multi-plexed so just make sure the car is post October 2001

As far as I know, it's just a case of removing the door card and the solenoid is screwed in place. You need to unclip the rods and door lock.

You might just get away with giving it a good clean. Someone who has had one out may be able to help better.

There's 2 types - normal central locking OR deadlocking, there not interchangeable!

How do I know the difference please?

Just been reading the handbook to see if there was a system for key operation if the doors are deadlocked, and can't see one. It does say that the key independently operates the locks on the front doors, which I read (probably wrongly) as the key will unlock whichever door it is being used in and not the other one. never tried using the key in the lock, but might explain why some people are having issues with the central locking not working when using the key.

Ah right, cheers for that. I knew there are 2 types for pre-plex, but thought all multi-plex locks were deadlocking as standard and you push the button twice to remove the deadlock.

Check on servicebox with your VIN and it should throw up the one that's fitted

Just as easy to sit in the car, 1 press on the remote fob to lock the car & then try & open the door by pulling the interior handle.

If it opens = NO deadlocks Laughing
