#1: Replacing the Gear Linkage Author: 20Drift, Posted: Thu Apr 11, 2013 12:31 pm ---- Hi Guys,
I've got a 206 LX 1.4 Petrol, and the gear stick has become a bit wobbly/jelly like, (there's a more-than-normal amount of play in the gear stick, indicating the rubbers have worn).
I've been looking at a replacement, but wanted to know if anyone's got a how-to or rough guide about how I'd go about changing the gear linkage?
Many thanks in advance!

Then they just pull on and off, but you will probably need something like a pry bar to pop them off, and a pair of mole grips or something similar to pop the new ones in.

Cheers for the speedy response!
I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to fiddling around in the engine bay/underside of the car - I work mainly in audio systems and ICE.
Where abouts is the throttle body/airbox pipe?

I see it! Thanks Lee. Also, should I leave the car in gear or neutral when carrying out the change?

#7: Re: Replacing the Gear Linkage Author: southwestchap, Location: DevonPosted: Fri Apr 12, 2013 5:33 am ---- they can be absolute pigs to do as ive been doing them recently. 13mm and 14mm spanner seem to be a half decent way to pop them off (lever the 13mm against the 14mm)
else have a pry bar and catch the edge of the linkage and pop it that way off. youll see how it works when your looking at it.
#8: Re: Replacing the Gear Linkage Author: tsotd, Location: kentPosted: Sat Apr 13, 2013 4:36 am ---- do the linkages 1 at a time so you dont get mixed up with which one goes where
#9: Re: Replacing the Gear Linkage Author: gtijames22, Location: stirlingPosted: Tue Apr 16, 2013 1:35 pm ---- does the 180 have the same linkages or is there a different setup for these?
thanks

180 Uses cables not rods so that it clears the exhaust manifold.

I believe thei'r both the same.
Mind you don't break off the balls when you pull them.
#12: Re: Replacing the Gear Linkage Author: HarryQDG, Posted: Fri Mar 28, 2014 6:36 pm ---- Does the 206 1.4 HDI replace the same as above? Would like details on complete removal at gear shift end too please?
Thanks.
