No need to try them, common sense says they don't work and are a waste of money.

If they worked, manufacturers would fit them as standard to get better fuel economy out of their cars and use the increase in fuel efficiency as a selling point.

It's all well and good aligning molecules using a magnet (if you can find one strong enough), but as soon as the fuel goes beyond the magnet the molecules get mis-aligned again, therefore serving no actual purpose.

These kind of things fall into the same category as the little black box which is supposed to give you more power, yes they will give more power by fooling the ECU into thinking there is more air passing into the engine, which in turn delivers more fuel. They can charge £20 for these and they are just a 10p resisitor.
The electric supercharger is another good gimmick. It can't pump enough air into the engine to benefit, and they actually restrict the air flow more than anything.

Just by giving the car a good detail will improve economy, if the surface area is smooth and slick, then less wind resistance causing drag on the car will decrease the fuel consumption.

I agree! You learnt the hard way when I said it wouldn't hurt when I stuck it in Twisted Evil

I'm buying the magnets, the resistor box, maybe 20 because they give 10% more power so that will triple my engine output, gonna fit my mums hair dryer over the air intake AND stick some little stripes down the side of the car. Sebastian Vettel better watch out because it won't be Multi 21 that he needs to listen for, but the flying 206 that leaves him eating dust.

One question though, if I fit more stripes, does that make it go even faster?

well it cost me £62.00 to fill the gti up on Sunday 13th i have done 138 miles so far and im 2mm ish over half a tank and thats driving to get best i can do MPG.

It's a GTi, it's not built for economy.

Half a tank is about 25 litres. over 138 miles that makes it roughly 26mpg which sounds about right for a GTi. My 1.4 is giving an average of 36mpg.

Try putting a tank of Shell V-power in on every 4th fill up. Might seem expensive, but it is a good way of keeping your engine clean if you normally use the cheaper fuels. You will notice a difference in economy after a few fill ups.

I told your sister I was a trainee gynecologist. She did some moaning, but she wasn't complaining. Wink
