The 206 has developed a fault and I'm left scratching my head.
The car has been standing for a wee while but after fitting a new battery and giving it a service it flew through everything on the MOT except for the headlights.
When you turn the stalk to sidelights and dipped all works fine but when you pull it back for full dipped and main stay on! Also, when you pull the stalk back again (to take the full beam off) the full beams reduce slightly but both the dipped and main remain on. It seems the problem starts when you switch to main - if you just turn dipped on its fine.
I've got ultra angel eyes fitted and one of the adapters started to smolder when I was checking the wiring after the MOT. I've put a multimeter on the headlights and all of the wiring on the headlights are fine.
What are the prime candidates? Dodgy earth, relay or what?
Need your thoughts.
(On a separate note anyone know where I can source some extra Pug H7 to H4 adapters?)

Multimeter out and check all the connections and the power going to each connector, and make sure the voltages are correct. May even be a faulty comm unit.
I know you can get H4-H7 adaptors from pug, no idea if they sell the one the other way around.
You could possibly buy the plugs and make your own or ask an auto electrician to make you some up.

I guess if the switch is faulty inside it could give the problem I'm seeing. But would that cause the Pug to H4 connector to heat up and smolder?
As for the earth; the dipped work fine and full fine (if all lights are off and you just flash them only they come on) - it's only when the dipped are on and you switch to full... and they both share the same earth! So if there was a fault with one I'd expect a fault with another.
I'd be tempted to just get some H4/H1 plugs and replace the existing connector on the car if it was appropriate... Unfortunately I don't want to replace connectors if it can be avoided (if they're not the problem).
I've had a multimeter out and a continuity check on the headlight wiring tells me there's no issue with the headlights themselves.
I'll try and upload the wiring diagram shortly so you can see what I'm looking at...
