If it's not icy cold then it isn't working.

Go to a professional. Kwik Fit have the gear, but they will probably tell you that the compressor has gone.
Have a look in the Yellow Pages, quite a few mobile guys doing it now.

#7: Re: Air con Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Mon May 06, 2013 9:32 am ---- Last time I had the aircon serviced and re-gassed, it was about £20, but I'm talking nearly 10 years ago now, plus the guy did a lot of work for the company I was at, so got charged the reduced price.

Depends where you take it.
It was about £70 the other year when I had my aircon serviced BUT that was done at a professional place that has been doing aircon for 30+ years & actually know what there doing.
A proper aircon service including the vac out takes around an hour.

I agree! When I bought my alloys second hand I had a rumbling noise a low speed. I later found out it was a badly worn tyre.
Kwik fit told me my wheel bolts had gone too far through and were rubbing on my discs! So if I let them replace my discs and pads it might stop the noise!
I laughed at them. Told them to get my car off the ramp so I could go o a rel garage with real mechanics!
#12: Re: Air con Author: DeeTurbo, Location: BedfordshirePosted: Mon May 06, 2013 3:55 pm ---- When your getting it done ask them if they use the dye in the fluid because if it works for a couple of days then stops working the system will be leaking somewhere and if you use the dye first time around you will be able to find the leak, otherwise you'll need to get it regassed again with the dye to find the fault.
I got our car done at the end of last summer and it only lasted a day! Last week a had a look around the system and found a leak on the bottom pipe that goes into the condenser (air con rad) and then also found the condenser itself had corroded. Replaced both with known good used parts and it's been fine since. Hopefully it'll work for sometime yet.
Most places here charge £40-£70 but I found a place that did ours for £29 and with the dye.
Good tip, in the winter when washing the car make sure you spray a lot of water through the grills on the front bumper to wash out all the salt in the fins of the rad and condenser to stop them corroding from the salt thats stuck in them.
