#1: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: eddie206, Posted: Thu May 09, 2013 8:08 pm ---- Hi guys...would anyone have any good ideas how i can get my bloomin lock nuts off my alloys???there sunken into the rims..which are peugeot 16 inch..and they have central round ends around 1cm across and 1.5/2deep then they have four small holes positioned drilled deeper into the studs around the central column(it is these holes that vary from key to key)then the studs sread out and the rest is normal stud to the threads..
Ive managed to get one out by a bloke but he snapped his snap on socket trying to do the next one so i know there in too tight(obviosly making it worse).
Ive also tried drilling and ive got titanium ended bits but they hardly marked them so im up the creek with no. paddle as they say...
Ive even tried the machine mart extractors range and halfords but these only stock the thread end type and they wont work on my type...bummer.
So if thetes anyone with a remedy id be very keen to hear it..cheers guys.

#3: Re: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Fri May 10, 2013 3:06 am ---- There are people with the tool knocking around. Just depends which part of the country you're in as to whether one is nearby, and then you can negotiate a price with them to remove the bolts.
#4: Re: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: iainlovatt, Posted: Fri May 10, 2013 3:10 am ---- When i has some secure bolts removed from my wheel which were off a car being broken (bought on the cheap) the security bolt heads just snapped, So its not a guarantee that you will get them off easily!

Tried allsorts of tools on mine hydraulic gun got the rears off only just, but the front ones would not come off at all, even called RAC out, he could not remove them with all with his specialist tools he had.
Ended up going to a garage who tried his method but snapped the heads off who then hammered and chisseled them out, Not good really as i think this caused my ABS rings to crack, in hind sight i should have just paid £40 to peugeot for a new socket.
So a word of warning when hammering at the nuts the rings may crack.
#6: Re: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: eddie206, Posted: Fri May 10, 2013 7:27 am ---- Cheers guys..a couple of things to try then!!
DREWDEN mate.how do peugeot identify the right key?car reg number yeah?
and the abs rings should be cheap to replace shouldnt they?
And thanks but those type of extractors are not suitable for the type of lock studs i have unfortunately...already tried them mate...
There is an independant pug guy whos wuoted me between 30-50 quid so as he said when i left he will see me soon it seems....clever swine.
I will let u know all thanks.

#10: Re: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri May 10, 2013 10:43 am ---- The standard Peugeot / Citroen locking bolt removal keys are well known for being total crap.
Smart people bin the PSA locking bolts & replace them with McGards.
#11: Re: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Fri May 10, 2013 11:02 am ---- Pretty sure they asked me for my lock key?
The peugeot assistant kept a stock of them behind the counter and fried to match mine up without success unfortunately. (worth a try)
Went round a few tyre places as well, a few of them had a selection to try.
You never know you might fall lucky.
#12: Re: darned lock nuts/studs on alloys Author: eddie206, Posted: Sat May 11, 2013 12:33 pm ---- Its gonna have to be peugeot then the independant pug guy if all else fails.
