#1: VIDEO UPLOADED 10/05/14 - Oil light low revs issue continues Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Mon May 13, 2013 9:07 am ---- Just parked the car up radio (standard orm) on drivers window slightly open. Turned the key off. Locked the car and left it for 10 mins.
Went back to the car unlocked it via the remote. Started the car up the radio came on as it should however the mfd did not display the radio info and the radio was emitting a high pitched constant beep over the radio. Very loud.
No warming lights on the car etc.
I turned the car off the radio stayed on playing but beep stopped. I turned the car on the radio continued but the mfd came on properly and now it is ok again.
Anyone have this happen before? Is it related to my other posts regarding the random beeping and oil light and earth strap.
Have I got more earth problems or some other electrical issue.
The battery is 100% and only 5 months old. It has been tested.
Thanks in advance Last edited by Tolkienfan001 on Sat May 10, 2014 3:50 am; edited 7 times in total

Ok so this is where my experience is at its lowest. Is there anything I can do to sort it or do I need a visit to pug?

Just reboot it & see how it goes.

I just don't get it the car runs so well starts first time. It's just this random beeping the oil light the other day and now the radio. I am at a complete loss!
#10: Re: Cars gone mad! Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Mon May 13, 2013 9:25 am ---- Check the alternator earth starp connection on the unit itself too.
And reset BSI anyway as said above.
#11: Re: Cars gone mad! Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Mon May 13, 2013 9:28 am ---- Ok thank you guys I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I will reboot the BSI. And will look into the alternator earth.
I will message back if it continues after these jobs.
#12: Re: Cars gone mad! Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: SpaldingPosted: Mon May 13, 2013 10:45 am ---- Guys,
I have had a look at my Haynes manual, but there is no mention of an earth strap on the alternator. I believe my alternator is located on the left hand side of the engine under the power steering. I can see one plug going into the alternator but where would the earth be?
Thanks

The alternator is bolted to the engine block which is in turn attached to the gearbox.
The whole lot is earthed as its all attached together.

So the earth on the gearbox that I have changed covers this then. I will try the reboot.
