I've seen a few sell on eBay before. Can you part exchange it for the one you want? Not sure if you can though tbh.

They won't actually 'buy' them though - they advertise/sell them on your behalf at the price they think it's worth. I have 'sold' my plate to both companies, neither found a buyer. The plate was sold with the car in the end.

I suggest you ebay the plate AFTER you get it on retention.

Whats the Plate?

There are a couple of websites that will buy them however its normally at a very reduced rate to what the registration is actually worth.

Even made up as a plate I can't see it

I could loosely get OWEN, Wendy, P Jozwen, maybe someone who's crazy about their phone network, people who go shopping in their pyjamas would like it.

Sadly it's not going to sell.

Car reg sites don't buy your reg off you, they advertise it on your behalf and only go ahead with the sale when a buyer has already bought and paid for the plate (then, they pay you for the plate, and then sell the plate to them for the price they bought it (which will be higher than the value they offered you before they advertised it for you) hence making their profit)

They do buy plates directly but only high value plates, maybe Lee 1, they'll make a reduced offer so they can make big money.

My plate (not yet on my car) is LD53 LEE and i'll even struggle to sell that. Because there's so many Lee's, what's the chances of someone wanting mine? There's LD52 LEE, MR53 LEE and about 1,000 combinations.

Unless you have something highly demanded, you're pretty much stuck with a plate UNTIL someone directly wants to buy it off you; and that's like saying how long is a piece of string. You could be waiting years.

owell then,I will just put it on retention then and put my own on it. cant be arsed with lots of hassle to sell it for pennies probably by the sounds of it it will cost as much to sell it

Doesn't cost anything to sell it, it's just that that you have no idea of when, if ever, it will actually be snapped by someone.

thats what i mean takes time lots of effort and eBay aint free all the time, so stick it up on the free weekends and get mine on, it was free with the car it just don't do it any favors as its a 2004 everybody keeps asking is it s 02 it gets numb explaining that they when-rt made then to none car folk
