#1: best way to remove sheared wheel nuts?? Author: joshe93 PostPosted: Thu May 16, 2013 12:23 pm

I wanted to change the back discs and pads on my 206 xsi came to undoing the locking wheel nut with the proper socket for it and the head completely sheared off of it! Any ideas how to get this out, the brakes really need doing..

Will the wheel come off over the shoulder?

You might find you have enough stud to get mole grips on to unscrew it.
The only other method I can think off would be to drill down the centre of the remaining stud and use a stud extraction tool.

Do you have a picture? Can think of at least 4 ways depending on where it snapped

Your better off going to a bodyshop that's dealt with this problem before. Is there a head left on the bolt? If there is they will make a socket turn it with force or, if there's only the stud left they could tack weld a bolt on to turn it. Hope you get it sorted

Good luck!
I had 2 wheels that had the locking nut head come off! The only way of removing them was with a drill and drilling the bolt off!

I have one of these. I snapped a bolt off a gti I was breaking, but needed it out to sell the beam, did the job but snapped the handle, so don't buy cheap....

If its a locking nut then it won't do it unless its a monkey metal pug one

I'm assuming you still have the key? The part the key actually locks onto is still there. Not too sure how it snapped as that bit is just there to help centre it.

Bend the wheel to stretch the wheel nut then put it flush to the car and it should be looser.
