#1: Hunting and Stalling at Idle 2005 1.4 16v Author: Andy4D, Posted: Thu May 16, 2013 12:26 pm ---- Hi guys, new to the forum, did some searching but most problems seem to be ICV related, this car is fly-by-wire so doesn't have one as far as I can make out.
The car is a mate's 2005 206 1.4 16v petrol, ET3J4 engine.
I recently resealed the top half of the head for him (two piece of the head for the bearing caps on these engines) as it was leaking oil. I thought this would be simple but turns out the timing belt, etc has to come off, which means engine mount off, etc.
Since doing the job the car started and ran fine when I ran it back to him but since then has developed a problem idling. The revs drop and then the ecu blips the throttle (presumably anti-stall), this repeats itself gradually getting closer to stall then a larger blip, until it stalls.
I tried taking the battery off for 15mins or so, reconnected and it started and idled fine, however the problem returned after a 5 min drive.
Any suggestions? I'm going to check everywhere for inlet leaks and clean the earth strap as a few other posts suggest for similar problems on older cars.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Andy
