#1: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: normany, Posted: Mon May 27, 2013 7:39 am ---- Good Day All,
I am after some help please, i am a brand new member just registered today, i am happy to make a fair donation to this forum if this problem is fixed. Would appreciate your kind support.
206 year 1999 Petrol was working fine, Key fob Battery was virtually drained, as i didnt have a replacement battery, i used the key to open / close doors. After a month 'after which the battery of the fob had completely drained' i changed the battery, (yes i didnlt lose the chip inside it) Took me maybe 2 mins, and now the car doesnt start. Engine Turns over and over, but doesnt fire. I have tried re-synching the key, cant make no sense of it. The central locking doesnt work at after after atleast 8 attempts on re-synching it. and of course the car doesnt wanna start.
Apologies to add this side note into the stupidity of the problem, As i bought the car, There was a seperate Key for opening the Door, and a seperate Key to Open the doors, (each with their own 'seperate' Fob) tried -resyncing both keys, no joy. The history on why this is because the owner changed the Key lock in the ignition once upon a time.

#5: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: normany, Posted: Mon May 27, 2013 1:49 pm ---- no i havnt, the one i replaced it with was brand new, and the new battery does of course show the LED everytime i press it, but regardless, if you say its worth STILL changing for another battery i can try that.

#7: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Mon May 27, 2013 3:34 pm ---- I believe that the key you got don't have the original immbo. chip, which can forget the code of the car,so you need to reprogramme the key to car so it start again.

If you have pp2000 you can do it from there. If not see if someone local to you on here has it and is willing?

Give your battery a good charge or if it's a few years old, replace it.
How have you been trying to start the car if the battery has been dead for a while?

You'll need the car with you if someone is going to hook it up to PP2000. You will also need the number off the security card that should be with the handbook pack. If you don't have the card, you can get the number from a dealer, some will do it for free, others charge.
If the chip has lost it's memory, you will also need a new virgin chip which can be programmed. The old chips aren't reprogrammable.
I don't think there is a way of testing the chip unfortunately, but new ones are available to buy.
You could try replacing the immo aerial at the ignition switch. About £20 from the dealers, but you would have been unlucky for that to go just from changing the fob battery.
#18: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: normany, Posted: Tue May 28, 2013 6:08 am ---- Cheers Macca,
I've just been to a lock smith and he checked the Key&fob and said the reading is fein from it, He advised me to take it to the Stealership.
Any other ideas guys?

This is a snipit from your opening thread.
Have you got the recyncing method from your owners handbook, and if so you are doing it with the (2nd position ignition) not the (1st position just the battery light).
#20: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: normany, Posted: Tue May 28, 2013 6:45 am ---- I have checked the owners handboob and tried both methods, for -resynching it- not joy.

You could try this
#22: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Tue May 28, 2013 7:04 am ----
That still won't fix the immobiliser issue. The resync is for the remote locking, which is what the locksmith probably checked was working on the fob.
The only way to pair the chip with the ECU is by using PP2000
#23: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: normany, Posted: Tue May 28, 2013 7:06 am ---- I just called an independant Peugot SPecialist in Coventry, he wants £30 an hour to check it out. he has PP2000.
Any one in the forum in the neibourhood / surroundings of coventry with pp2000?
#24: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Tue May 28, 2013 7:20 am ---- OK Cheers.
Might be a lesson for people on here, who have awkward key matches to their car. And want to change their battery fob key. Do it at a garage when trying to resync the keys. Then any problems, the garage is on your doorstep so to speak.
Just a question macca 1411 would a breakdown AA, etc sort your problem out free of charge, or would they tow you to a garage of your choice, so you don't incur callout fees.
#25: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Tue May 28, 2013 8:28 am ---- Can't see the AA/RAC sorting the problem out FOC unless it's something they can fix at the roadside. If it is the immobiliser that has gone kaput, then they would probably tow you to a dealers.
If you ring around autolocksmiths, then they could possibly sort it out, depending on what the actual problem is.
At the moment we're all guessing that the immo chip has somehow become unpaired, but it's not a foregone conclusion because changing the remote battery shouldn't affect the chip as the only thing they have in common is the plastic casing that holds the circuit board and immo chip.
#26: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Tue May 28, 2013 9:39 am ---- To many keys on the same keyring ( espicially for the same type of transponder system ) will stop the immobiliser from disarming.
The non plexed immobiliser has a pretty big range on the aerial, its a pretty pisspoor system.
#27: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Tue May 28, 2013 2:56 pm ---- if I were you,I would buy a new switch and door locks, and petrol cap with the same key,and then re programe the immbolizer, and make sure there is no other keys is working on the system but the one you have in your hand, make 2 of them,as a spare key...this might cost a bit,but it's the right thing to do

Does this means if i cant re-synch the keys, its the BSI which needs replacing?
#30: Re: 206 Wont Start after Key Fob Battery Change Author: MattS16, Location: Long SuttonPosted: Wed May 29, 2013 10:48 am ---- You need to get it on Planet 1st, check you're live data to see if it recognises the key/keys, you need to start from there as it could just be a coincidence (for example the in tank pump has packed up) until you know for sure the key isn't recognised you could be throwing money and time at a problem that isn't there.
