#1: Negative camber on n/s front wheel. Author: Paul76, Location: AndoverPosted: Mon May 27, 2013 3:10 pm ---- Hi folks. So I bought this Peugeot 206 verve on a cat D.
I've replaced the lower wishbone, shock absorber, spring, anti roll bar links, tie rod end, tie rod rack end and the wheel.
There is still a very visible negative camber. Could the stub axle be ruined? Have the parts shop gave me the wrong lower wish bone?
I'm getting a little worried about this car.

Look at the subframe for damage as well.

No it hasn't. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that as the damage looked minimal. Jigging costs an absolute bomb doesn't it?

I would have put it on a jig first to see if the chassis was straight before spending money on parts (unless they had to be replaced anyway).
I'd find a local bodyshop that has a jig before you do anything else. Can't comment on price, as that will come down to each individual bodyshop.

Yes, the parts needed to be replaced anyway. Wishbone and shock absorber were quite visibly damaged.
I can get a front stub axle for 30 quid so I figured it wouldn't hurt to change that over.
I suppose the front subframe could be bust too. I would be surprised if the chassis was bent to be honest.

The repairs override the book price because body shops and mechanics use brand new parts and charge the Earth.
I put the car back on the road for a fraction of the quote from authorised insurance garage.

No mate. The car hasn't left my drive yet. I've just changed all the suspension parts over and the wheel is still crooked.
I'm going to change the hub over in the next few days and If that don't work then I'll take the car to a garage.
I was just wondering if bent stub axles and sub frames are common on Peugeots? This is the first time I've worked on a peugeot.

How do you mean stub axle? As far as I was aware, it was only the rear trailing arms that had stub axles fitted. Am I missing something? If you have any pictures that would be handy.
Heard of bent subframes and rear stub axles before on accident damaged cars. Bent both the stub axle and trailing arm on my 306 better something bending than breaking though!

Some people call the stub axles and some people call them Hubs.
