#1: Radio Code help Author: philb205/405/206 PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 3:44 pm
    ----
As a newbie 206 owner and forum member I have tried searching the forum but can't find what I am looking for.
Can anyone tell me who on this forum might be able to help me recover a code for my factory standard stereo?

Many thanks

Plexed or pre plex?

If plexed, then the radio is VIN coded and you need Peugeot Planet to do this, pre-plexed requires a trip to the dealer to see if they can get the code off the computer for you. This can also be done by some companies online.

How do I tell the difference between and is there a way of getting the code for free?

A) Multiplexed is sometimes referred to as mux or plexed. Non-plexed is sometimes referred to as pre-plexed.
Multiplexed cars were manufactured from October 2001. The easiest way to tell if you car is non-plexed or multiplexed is by the radio stalk next to the steering wheel. If your car is multiplexed your radio stalk will look like this

otherwise your car is pre-plexed.

It appears mine is pre plexed, any hope of getting a free code for my radio as i bought a replacement stereo which the seller promised he had a code for. Now if have to pay for a code it would have been cheaper and preferable to buy an after market head unit.
