So some of you might know I bought a 206 that had been involved in a accident. It was a category d car. I've now fixed all the suspension and changed all the body panels over.
I now have the abs and airbag warning lights being displayed on my dash. The Abs is obviously being displayed as the the whole of the suspension got smashed up.
Obviously all parts have been changed. Do I need to reset these warning lights or will the Peugeot automatically reset them for me after driving?
I have a elm interface already that I use for other makes of cars. can I read faults with this lead and can I reset abs and airbag lights with this Interface?
Sorry for the bone questions, but I've no knowledge of Peugeots. I'm on a learning curve here. Thanks a lot.

Your best bet is to try and get a second hand airbag ECU from a scrapyard. just make sure the car hasn't been involved in a bump. Not sure if you have to connect to PP when you fit it though, someone else will be able to confirm this.
Just for your information, the airbag ECU is situated under the ashtray just in front of the gearstick.

Has a belt pre-tensioner been deployed, if so that will cause the same as the airbag going off = New ecu, But as above best to get planet on it and see what the cause of the light is first, could have been there before the crash...... (Comms/seat loom standard fault)

Hi there. Many thanks. I connected my Elm lead yesterday with some free software and that didn't seem to read the fault codes.
I ordered planet yesterday, so I'm just waiting for that. Regarding the ABS light, would this need to be reset, or would it reset itself after a short drive?

Obviously the Airbag light is showing, so does anybody have any idea why the fault isn't showing?

Yep, this is what I'm thinking. He's using snap on. I've actually bought peugeot planet and it arrived yesterday.
I can't get the software to work on my windows 7 laptop. I'm going to try and install xp on my laptop later, but I'm getting really frustrated.
I'm not a novice on the computer, but trying to get this up and running has defeated me.

When I first installed it, took me forever. Turn off your internet connection and anti virus and it flies through the installation and activation process. I also found that when it gives you the activation details (CHxxxx, 001 etc) it was better to copy and paste that to the crack rather than enter it manually.

I've got another thread running, but I'm desperate on this one. I've got a 206 which was involved in a accident. The Airbag light has been displayed since I bought the car. I've now completely repaired the car, but I cannot get rid of the airbag error light.
It's been to a independant peugeot specialist, and he's had it hooked up on snap on Diagnostics. There were no fault codes logged. The Mechanic said this was weird and not something he'd seen before.
I've bought peugeot planet, Diagbox,and the leads. I haven't been able to Install peugeot planet as of yet on my windows 7 laptop. I've got diagbox up and running though.
I connected my car about a hour ago on diagbox, and there are no errors logged on the Airbag ecu.
What is happening? How can this be? If I don't know the cause, I cannot fix the fault. I need a mot on this car.
Does anybody have any idea? Your input would be very much appreciated.

It's one of the grey areas, the light is there to indicate a fault although would that class it as being defective. Be one for VOSA to sort out if someone appealed a decision.

The light has to come on, then go off. Anyway, I've sorted it. I took the Ecu out and sent it away to be reset. Once your car has been involved in accident, the ecu stores crash data.
Whether your airbags or pretensioners deploy or not, you will get a solid Airbag light with no error codes. The Ecu has to be cleared of crash data.
Option one, replace the Ecu with another. The numbers have to be a exact match. Buying a second hand one from a scrappy is not advised as it's probably out of a smashed car anyway. Buy a new one from Peugeot, get hit with a massive bill.
Second option, send ecu off for crash data reset. £25 quid, job done.
Edit, just stick the ecu back in and the light will go out. You don't have to so anything once it's been reset.

If it extinguishes seconds after ignition it is fine, and an obvious pass.
If there is no light whatsoever - it is an advisory, NOT a fail (as of March 2013) and will pass.
