#1: coolant fan ! Author: Lowiee, Location: milton keynesPosted: Mon Jun 10, 2013 6:02 am ---- getting to the bottom of why my coolant fan doesnt come on on my 2003 206 hdi 2L turbo multiplex
first i have had the codes read and came back with
>------P0115 engine collant temp signal -----<
P0100 flow sensor signal ie: maf
P0101 air mass sensor circuit maf again
P0571 brake contact signal
now the symptoms are as follows the car temp gauge stays at 75% - 90% once warmed up i have left it sitting at idle for 20 mins and still the fan doesnt switch on
going to check fan wiring for continuity earth was ok after a quick check with multimeter
maxi fuse in engine fuse box , direct connection fan to battery
thermosat is in housing
now my question is the engine block temp sensor is of the resitance type ? so if i disconnect if the temp dial should zero and if i bridge the sensor plug the fan should come on ? not sure because its ecu controlled
any help on this would be good

i unplugged the sensor (after putting the fusebox back ) the preheat light came on with key in position 2 started the car and 2 seconds after the fan came on
so i think the sensor is faulty never thought to unplug the sensor
