#1: The compressor clutch of the AC is spinning heavily Author: hamed206, Location: EgyptPosted: Wed Jun 12, 2013 3:42 pm ---- The AC is still working fine, cooling the interior in this hot summer, but I'm experiencing a frequent change of the belt that drives the AC compressor every 10K-12K miles. My mechanic says that the compressor is causing a load on the belt, and may be there is something wrong with the compressor that making the compressor clutch spinning heavily (he tried to spin the clutch by hand). Could this be true? And if so, what should I do? Replace the compressor? Or leave it as its until something serious happen?
I btw change the AC compressor every 2 years! The car is several years old and I have changed the compressor 3 times!
The climate in Egypt is very hot, so we tend to operate the AC all the time, but would this be an enough reason for AC compressor damage?
Cheers.

....if it aint broke dont try to fix it.....ac every couple of years???egypt or not they are designed to run much longer unless you get a dud or three.
The compressor could be at fault but id check the belt tensioning is right???it should be about 12mmup and 12mm down from the invisible centre of the belt to the closest edge.....this may help???
