#1: Funny noise when pushing clutch pedal Author: MrBombHead, Location: Horchurch, Essex, LondonPosted: Fri Jun 14, 2013 7:12 am ---- Hi,
This morning I made a trip to work and on the way I notices a bit of vibration coming from the clutch pedal when changing gears.
A mile or so down the road I started hearing almost like a scretching noise whenever I put my foot on the clutch.
Changing gear seems to be fine, no slipping and acceleration is fine when I put my foot down. It just seems to be the noise, but it is a worrying sounding noise.
Any ideas from experience at all?
I have a recording of the sound if that helps at all.

Not knowing anything about how a clutch works I did some research for your suggestion would certainly make sense. I think failure in any other part of the gear changing system would present much bigger problems than just a noise.
Will be taking the car down to a garage today.
Thanks for your response.

Putting the total to £456.00
Does this sound like a rip off? or am I just in shock?

While its apart in bits its just stupid not to replace the complete 3 part clutch kit.
You have to dismantle it to get at the release bearing anyway.
LUK / Sachs / Valeo for the clutch kit.

He did mention replacing something else, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it. He said its a "while your there" type replacement, and is included in the price he quoted.

Avoid the Transmech clutch kit if one is listed for your car, they are cheaper for a reason!

Thanks for the info, will make sure I get the Valeo fitted rather than the Transmech

#13: Re: Funny noise when pushing clutch pedal Author: broadblaster, Location: south coastPosted: Tue Jun 18, 2013 3:06 pm ---- as above go for the LUK kit as the valeo kit seems to be a weak point on the 180's on both of mine it was the thrust bearing trying to eat its way through the pressure plate.
i personly would change the input shaft bearing/seal while you have got it all apart as again both of my ones were very worn.
