#1: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Thu Jun 20, 2013 6:13 am ---- Bought myself a 2004 206cc 1.6 Tiptronic.
Needed a bit of work done but i enjoy working on cars so it didn't bother me
1st thing i did when i picked it up was give a good clean and polish.
Paintwork still felt really rough though, Possibly never been polished.
So i decided to get the clay kit out while waiting for some parts to arrive.
Still need to touch up some chips etc but can't expect perfect paintwork on a car 9 years old.
Jobs to do.
Most important job was to replace the offside front spring as it had snapped at the top. This was Done 2 days ago and took 5 hours but it's done now which is the important.
Also need to replace the passenger seat belt as it is damaged from being shut in the door i think.
And the Com2000 unit as someone has fitted a Hatchback one to my CC so it is missing the trip controls and the airbag system doesn't like it.
Mods to do.
Chrome door handles and hoops.
Replace all lights for chrome/crystal units
mesh grill
etc....

Your best ringing them up as they don't keep all available options of them in stock, they normally have to order them in for next day.

I've found with ECP site, they list every com unit for the 206 range when you enter your reg, you just need to look through the specs to find the right one. They even list the pre plex stalks for mine, which is odd since it's a multiplex.

You will get the airbag warning light displayed if the seatbelt fails the airbag start up check.
Also if the front airbags where deployed in the car it was removed from it will be skip fodder.

Airbag lights on already due to the wrong comm200 unit installed before i bought it. Also, the car it was removed from had no steering wheel but the passenger airbag was there and that was intact.
#15: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Sun Jun 23, 2013 9:00 am ---- This is one of the reasons why we replaced the seat belt
The other was it kept jamming up every time you tried to use it.
When replacing it, i found this
That's how the bottom part was bolted to the car!
#16: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Mon Jun 24, 2013 7:41 am ---- Drivers window was arguing with me every time i tried to raise it. Took the switches apart, Cleaned with WD40 and now working again.
Also found why my my bonnet doesn't sit right.
Check the height difference compared to the nearside.
Also, Have very loud ticking noise. I've changed the oil etc and and checked tappets but it seems to be coming from the injectors.
Do you think it's loud or is it me?
(Please excuse the angle. Iphone decided to have a mind of it's own)
#17: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Tue Jul 02, 2013 8:31 am ---- Small update.
Got some lexus lights coming for the rear. I know they're a bit marmite but i like them and will match the clear 3rd brake light and fog lamp.
Also fixed my drivers seat, after buying another one. It just started working. So now i have a spare seat sitting in the shed.
Sun visor on the drivers side had a broken mirror in it. So i swapped it for an intact one.
And i have cleaned all the interior and carpets with a carpet cleaner so all looking nice and fresh (i hope)
Few more jobs to do before Pugfest, but hopefully i'll have them all done.
#18: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Fri Jul 05, 2013 3:08 am ---- Stopped off on the way home to take a few pictures by the coast.

Received the parcel today and they've sent me a hatchback one.

#24: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Mon Jul 08, 2013 7:26 am ---- Replaced the comms unit so I now have all the functions again.
So I now have a hatchback one for sale but I've only got 33 posts so. Once I reached 50 I'll advertise it.
#25: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:42 am ---- The button to flick between mpg etc was very temprimental. So I took the end of the stalk apart and found the contacts were dirty and the button wasn't pushing the pin down enough. So I cut the end of a plastic cotton bud off, stuck it on the end of the button and trimmed it to the correct length. Hey presto it all works again
Putting the stalk back together was a bit fiddly but got there in the end.
#26: Re: The Blue Bandit (206cc) Author: Cabrioman, Location: Neath - South WalesPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 12:17 pm ---- Received my tail lights from Iainlovatt.
Side covers needed trimming to fit the CC but already cut down so will fit them fully tomorrow.

I would, but the one I have for sale is the original hatchback one. I took it out and fitted the new one I got sent because even though its wrong, it still has the buttons for my trip computer.

Most defiantly
Might not be down for the journey with the camping gear in the back but once its unloaded the roof will be staying down
I'm gonna try and load it with the roof able to be lowered but it takes up a lot of space in the boot.

More Dirt!
That Has To Go!
New Lights Fitted
I know some people don't like them but i think they suit the car really well. I intend to replace both the fog lamp and 3rd brake light for chrome units too so it'll all match.
