#1: Dashboard dials and lights die the work again while driving? Author: girlracer206, Location: South east kent PostPosted: Tue Jul 02, 2013 8:49 am

Hello i have a 1999 1.4 206, it was fine until i got in it today. I started it as usual i got down the road and the the cd player turned itself off and the dials all reset to zero and turned off, the engine was still running as normal then the cd player would turn back on again and the dashboard dials would work showing digital mileage but everytime it would show different amount of fuel and different temperature. It keeps doing doing this on and off about every 10-20 seconds. Please help what is wrong with my car?????

If its a multiplex car it sounds like it needs a bsi reboot??
what does your right hand wiper control stalk look like.its just behind the steering wheel and it controls the wipers...tell the size shape and buttons on it...this is to tell wether its a multiplex or non plexed car..they are different on each type...

Have you had the battery tested, sometimes dud batteries can cause weird things to happen.

How did you pin point the connection and which was it as this fault is common and often only fixed temporarily with a reboot???

Hi, I wondered if you'd found the solution as I have similar problem with mine? Mine began with left indicator light coming on randomly and has now spread to other lights on dash and occasional brief electrical power loss.

ive been told a trusted friend and peugeot mechanic that needs new instrument panel as the circuit board is shortening out and if that doesnt fix then go down the route of a new bsi

Yeah the bsi reboot is only for multiplexed 206s..not non multiplexed like yours unfortunately..
there's definately something wrong if its blowing bulbs and behaving as youve said..
I have no experience in this type of problem on this car..sorry..what i would say is that its likely that a proper code reader will help for you...there is a map on here detailing the location of people with the proper peugeot code readers that may accept beer tokens for bad codes..

mine isnt blowing bulbs they all work they jut switch off and on again, we think it may have something to do with my cd player, ive got access diagnostic tools like obd fault code reader

I may be wrong but you may need access to peugeotplanet to do a full diagnostic scan. I believe the normal obd readers can only access ecu codes. I may be wrong though.

I've had a very similar problem where all the lights on my dash will come on and the gauges wont work while the engine is both running and off. the dash lights continues to stay on untill the bsi shuts down all electrics. The odd thing for mine was that it only happened during cold winter mornings. I have since changed the battery and it seemed to have resolved the issue.. hopefully..

Just my two cents Smile
