#1: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Thu Jul 04, 2013 4:06 pm ---- Hi
I have recently had my cooling fan wiring repaired and upon checking to confirm that it is fixed by switching on the air con to see if the low speed fan will kick in without letting it warm up. It doesn't kick in. I know the air con probably needs re-gassed, but have read that it should still kick in? Is this correct? The green light comes on when I press the button. But that is all.

#3: Re: Quick fan help Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Thu Jul 04, 2013 4:18 pm ---- If the AC isn't working the cooling fan won't be activated.

#7: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Mon Jul 08, 2013 6:21 pm ---- where bouts is that? it was at a garage to get the wiring at the relays repaired
#8: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:08 am ---- have had a look there is no multi plug that I can see. it is an 03 2ltr hdi multiplexed with air con.
#9: Re: Quick fan help Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:16 am ---- The multiplug is at the bottom of the radiator, and connects to the resistor.
Need to take the bumper off, as its very awkward to get to.

#11: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:19 am ---- if its that part then it has been checked when the resistor was changed. There is no corrosion of the wires there
#12: Re: Quick fan help Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:22 am ---- Does the high speed work then?
#13: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:23 am ---- I did t let it get hot enough. the fan works as the garage tested it before repairing the wiring at the relay
#14: Re: Quick fan help Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:25 am ---- I would make sure the high speed mode works, the garage should have tested both speeds by switching them on with PP2000 before giving back to the customer (that would be you).
#15: Re: Quick fan help Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:42 am ---- I would just check and make sure he hasn't just cut the plug off, and joined the wires together.
Thats the case with mine at the moment.
My fan wasn't working, so the electrician just made the high speed fan work.
My job pretty soon, take bumper off, fit a new resister, and put the plug back on.
Did it this way to keep costs down.
#16: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 9:48 am ---- hi Dresden the relays are still there the wires to the low speed resistor have been connected back to the relays via spade connectors to the relay. And the top relay that is the high speed is still as it was as itswires weren't corroded like the bottom relay.
#17: Re: Quick fan help Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:02 am ---- There is 2 relays in a black box which is pretty easy to get to and sort out.
there's also a resister at the very bottom of the radiator, which is nigh on impossible to do without taking the bumper off, has this resister, plug, been attended to.
#18: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:05 am ---- yes the resistor has been replaced mate.
#19: Re: Quick fan help Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:07 am ----

Definately connected OK with the spades and not mixed-up a couple of positions?
#20: Re: Quick fan help Author: weejoe86, Location: ScotlandPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 12:05 pm ---- Hi it looks wired up the correct way. Is there anything else worth checking?
#21: Re: Quick fan help Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2013 6:18 pm ---- You could check the 20AMP maxi fuse, in the engine fuse box, it is fuse number 1
