#1: Car pulls to the left when power is taken off Author: 5worthington, Location: Essex PostPosted: Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:39 am

Sorry if this question has been asked before.

I have a 04 Peugeot 206 1.1i

When ever I go above 50 mph accelerating if I take my foot off the power to change gear or slow down the car wants to pull to the left. It's not that major more annoying. When I get up to 70 mph it doesn't feel very safe to drive either. Cornering on the motorway the steering feels vague as well. It seems the faster you go the worse the problem gets.

I have had tracking done and all suspension parts checked for play

Any help would be good

Thanks!

More information: Before I had the tracking done it didn't pull to the left but did wear on both front tyres hence why I had it done. It also didn't corner very well.

I know you have said you have had the tracking done but it does very much sound like the tracking is out.

I'd get it checked again.

And when you get it tracked get it done on 4 wheel alignment kit. While your rear isn't adjustable the 4 wheel kit is far more accurate than 2 wheel kit and less susceptible to operator error. Most centres only charge for what is adjustable so you will get it done on 4 wheel kit for the price of 2 wheel.

As said wishbone bushes do this when they're failing, easy to check, just jack it up and take a look at them, if they look dry or have started cracking, they're ready for replacing.

Also the pinch bolt that holds the ball joint of the wishbone into the hub is a big player for this to happen, even if it looks tight it might not be (Happened to mine) so I'd check the pinch bolt on the underside of the hub behind the brake disc, they're only a few quid to replace so it's worth while if they look or feel loose, mine got checked by 3 different garages, had it's tracking done twice, and I was also told my steering rack had 'play' in it, it all turned out to be a £3 bolt which I found myself after deciding to take a look at it.

It will be your wishbones more than likely. Happened to me when the front bush pulled out from its holder, would just randomly shoot to one side

Jacked up the car today. Took some pictures... What do you guys think? Pinch bolts seem to be tight
