#1: chirping and wearing tyres after fitted new wishbones Author: Sim, Location: West CountryPosted: Tue Jul 16, 2013 5:40 pm ---- Hello again,
Short history:
Car pulls to side when accelerating
Fix: replaced both lower arms, not Pug official parts though, but local supplier (that was back in 19th of May)
Tracking not done, as it still drives spot on straight
Weeks after I started hearing a chirping noise coming from offside front tyre when cornering (at 30mph speeds, normally you'd expect rally conditions to make such sounds). Checked tyre for wearing, still looked OK.
Over past weeks chirping is louder and more frequent. Also car tends to oversteer at the peak of a corner.
Now noticed that front -nearside- tyre is practically a slick! So chirping sound is coming from offside, but the tyre being eaten is nearside?..
Today swapped front axle tyres with rear axle, tests showed more good grip, but will make proper test tomorrow.
Wonder what eats the tyre and cause 'chirping' when cornering?
Booked 4wheel alignment Thursday
Hope I'm on good way
Cheers!

I have put it down to warmer and dry roads, due to the lovely weather.

I'm just baffled that my N/S tyre got eaten bare slick, meanwhile the chirping one is O/S
Anyhow, 4wheel tracking on Saturday, and then a new pair of tyres (hmm, I think I should keep the slicks though )
