#1: tomd0801754's Project #3 - Cally the GTi. Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Wed Jul 17, 2013 3:00 pm ---- So, this will be my third project thread, after Poppy, the intercooled 2.0HDi ( www.206info.co.uk/Foru...poppy.html ) and Violet the quickly sold track car. So, after moving to Moscow last year I am now back, with a third project. Cally - Short for Californian Poppy - Sticking with the flower theme.
Cally was bought or an absolute steal at £690and she went in for an MOT, which all that was required were ball joints, an exhaust clamp and the rear pads. As I was still out of the country, Larry and Dave spent a lot of time getting it sorted for me.
This is how she was bought:
I'm not going to post photo's of each modification and change that I have done in the last 5days, but big brownie points to anyone who can spot all 9 changes that have been made.
These photo's are all from today, where I got my old detailing head back on and gave her a good clean. The bodywork of this car is awesome. No panel gaps, no major dents and the paintwork is all the same colour. I can honestly say she is one of the best examples that I have seen of a 12year old car for a long long time.
This won't be a huge project, as I am in the UK for less than 10weeks a year, and it's just a clean car to keep me occupied and get me from A - B whilst I am here... Although knowing me, I'll hatch some stupid plan somewhere. Last edited by tomd0801754 on Sat Dec 21, 2013 4:15 pm; edited 1 time in total

Right parts wrong colour. Close enough.

Stubby aerial?
Jared - I'm fine pal, enjoying a nice 8 week holiday! Yeah anything that looks black in those photo's is actually anthracite. Rear bootstrip, coming soon. Ph2 washer jets - Trying to track some down. Many scrapyards are full of PH1 ones or the bonnet has already gone.
That is them all.
I have also added a engine cover and removed those awful cones, for a K and N panel filter. Also had a full service and already has a full aftermarket exhaust system.
8 week holiday, you completely moved to Moscow or is it work related?
#9: Re: tomd0801754's Project #3 - Cally the GTi. Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Wed Jul 17, 2013 3:46 pm ---- Completely moved to Moscow mate. Been there for a year now. Just been given another year contract, that added with a Russian girlfriend and a generally much better lifestyle... Could be there for a while. But, it now looks like I have this baby sat at home, and I don't know if I can be apart from her for 42 weeks a year. She may have to come to Russia.

Do you have a car in Russia or is there no need where you live/work
#11: Re: tomd0801754's Project #3 - Cally the GTi. Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Wed Jul 17, 2013 4:29 pm ---- I don't have the Russian keyboard on here, but:
zdrastviewty, kak dela? morshna dva piva, odin vodka e cola e odin batulka krazney vino pozhalsta.
Hello, how are you? Can I have two beers, one vodka and cola and one bottle of red wine please.
Other bits and bats, but I can get by in the vast array of bars. No car mate. The metro costs 50p and I can get anywhere in Moscow for that. Plus have you seen the Russians driving? I value my life and car.

The Anthracite suits the car and a certain someone has said she likes the lights like that (guess that's a job for the future). Another someone just loves the car (still not had the heart to tell her you're gay)
Did you get the heat shield sorted?

Good tohave another familiar face back on here

#19: Re: tomd0801754's Project #3 - Cally the GTi. Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Thu Jul 18, 2013 11:04 am ---- Macca - The other one didn't even say hello to me before. I'm heartbroken! Although she must have clicked I'm gay after catching us in bed together earlier.
Andrew - Meh, I'm still partially retired.
Rob - Cheers pal. It was, but very quickly got into the swing of things.
#20: Re: tomd0801754's Project #3 - Cally the GTi. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Thu Jul 18, 2013 5:38 pm ---- I would like to move to Australia but the cost for holidays to see if I like it then all the moving and setting up. If it doesn't work out then I would be pretty screwed financially. Where as I could have a decent mortgagei n 2 years.
#21: Re: tomd0801754's Project #3 - Cally the GTi. Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Fri Jul 26, 2013 1:15 pm ---- It's catch 22 mate. I save more out there, have a much better lifestyle and work is generally better. I'm 22. A mortgage can wait for a few years.
