I need a HDI which I will putting all the parts from my xsi onto.
It's a complete commuter so economy and cheap tax is a must.
I'm looking at the 2.0 and possibly the 1.4 but I'm thinking the 1.4 must be painfully slow? Although it does have a bit better economy.
Secondly I have seen owners saying they are £30 or £120 tax (maybe even more). So does anyone know what year I would have to get for it to be classed as £30 or where I can find out? Really don't understand this as they are the same engine but whatever...

According to parkers there are 4 types of HDI 2.0 - LX, GLX, eco, quicksilver, S, SE, XSI, D turbo and sport.
They are all £120 - £145 except the eco... how the hell am I suppose to find out which is which they are all the same to me. Unless there is a badge on it?

How slow is slow Adam? It's pretty much all motorway so trying to get into a gap and having no power would be frustrating. (Let's face it the 2.0 isn't quick, but at least no too bad)

Wouldn't bother with the DV6 if you are after a cheap hack.

95 isn't bad, as top speed is irrelevant I just want it to pull faster than a moped
It's a good plan, but it's still confusing to tell them apart.
The 1.4s on the other hand are all £30 by the looks of it - so much more choice

The other models are pretty simple to distinguish, Quiksilver (obvious), and the rest are just specs (eg. style of seat etc..)

If you get te 1.4 you will get more mpg Spesh with a map. 2.0 is also good with a map after you have got over the difference it makes a lift your toe off.
I have a 2.0 Hdi run it on BP ultimate.
Went from Shrewsbury town center to pugfest did two runs up the hill and back again and I only used three eighths of a tank which I think is pretty good

I've liked the 2.0l for a long time so it's what I'm aiming for.

Pro steve remap should be 120 bhp and turns car around

I drive to malton everyday for work (55 miles each way) on both main roads and little twisty b roads, and shes averaging 55mpg+. ive had it to 68mpg on a run on motorway at 60 mph. I can get 700miles per £65.

i have got a 1.4 hdi works van and yes 95/100 is flat out going down hill, but will sit at 70-85 with no problems it pulls ok, yes its never going to be a rocket ship but keeps up with traffic ok and its got enough pull for overtakeing and genral driveing i'v had it for the last 4 yrs and done 70k in it and only thing thats ever gone on it was the bottom pulley (rattleing) so changed for the newer type.
it's been thrashed from day one it never gets serviced last one was 40 odd k ago still get 60 mpg i raelly can't fault the thing.
