#1: TU5JP4 1.6 16V Head with 106 gti cams? Author: Adam2061994, Location: WrexhamPosted: Tue Jul 23, 2013 7:45 am ---- just wondering guys, seen a few topics around that the 206 1.6 xsi TU5JP4 engine is a very restricted engine, and there's a few cheapish ways round it to get a bit of power by using things such as 106 gti cams within the xsi head, they say the cam is a lot wilder throughout the rpm and they think the valves are very big (3mm more) than the 106 gti so it would make sense to use the best from both cars, that way you may gain a little more torque lower down in the rpm as the xsi doesn't have a lot of torque at all low down! also heard changing the manifold to a 4-2-1 stainless steel as the standard one is only cast iron and very restrictive!, what inlets could i swap to gain a little more power and would anything else need swapping, im looking for around 150-160bhp, any ideas or setups that would help can you let me know, and how hard are they to do thanks in advance

Author: Adam2061994, Location: WrexhamPosted: Tue Jul 23, 2013 7:53 am ---- im not too sure, i heard a few things that the 106 gti cams have been put in, using the lifters and springs out of the 106 too, the setup i had found was, 106 gti cams with springs and lifters and put into the 206 xsi head, get a 4-2-1 stainless steel manifold, and then use the c2 VTs inlet and injectors as a straight swap as they are both electric throttle, and then with a forced induction and a map, he was hitting around 160bhp, but i would like to know more about it

Author: Big_Rich180, Posted: Tue Jul 23, 2013 7:55 am ---- I thought 106 gti Pistons had to be used too as they had more of a cut out at the top for the valves..as I say though I could be wrong, it was a long time ago I was looking into this stuff and my brain tends to be a bit mushy now days.
It's probably worth checking the 106 GTi forum too.

You won't need pulleys, even if it did alter the timing the standard ones are adjustable.
I doubt it's worth the hassle to do, but if you are building an engine from scratch it's definitely the way to do it.
You won't see more than 150bhp without throttle bodies or turbo though.
