#1: Need your help: Temp gauge flying into red then back again!! Author: hamed206, Location: EgyptPosted: Wed Jul 24, 2013 7:41 am ---- What is the real root cause of this issue????????
I have seen this problem being posted by some persons in some other forums with no proper solution or real identification of the root cause of this issue.
My car starting to do it frequently today. While driving, the temp gauge would jump to red and back again like crazy. The A/C disconnect and connect each time the gauge is flying to red.....kept doing it like crazy!
We are in the summer, it was very hot in the morning. The problem annoyed me so much. It kept happening and I was not able to operate the A/C properly.
This is not the first time it happens. It used to happen many times since I bought my car. My car is 8v 1.4, 2000.
Please advise about such a problem. Anyone faced this? I'm sure there are some. So I need your kind attention here.
M

If so was it battery or starter motor.

It was not the battery because we tested it and tried to replace it and the problem persisted.
Haven't tested the starter motor yet which is highly suspected. But will post the results ASAP.
Thanks.

On the 1/07/2013 you seemed to have problems with your A/C then with no outcome, or did you sort it.
May be relevent to this post if you haven't.

No DREWDEN. This problem is not related to the A/C. Even when the A/C is off, the temp gauge would fly to red and back again. It happens in the morning, at night, and every time.

This may help you.
Check the earth strap, the earth strap could also be starter motor prblem as well.

Get it onto pp2000!!!

Author: Johnbyron, Location: ScunthorpePosted: Wed Jul 24, 2013 12:35 pm ---- As 14hdi said get it plugged in, sounds like an electrical problem to me, if the gauge shoots up to red line very fast and comes back down fairly sharpish too then I very much doubt your actual coolant temp is going up and down that quick so probably just the guage

It is not just the gauge because the fan kicks at high speed with every temp warning.
#10: Re: Need your help: Temp gauge flying into red then back again!! Author: hamed206, Location: EgyptPosted: Wed Jul 24, 2013 7:29 pm ---- I got it sorted today. I hope it won't turn back again!
It was the thermostat, not opening or closing properly, so the water was not getting cooled through the radiater (we found hot engine and cool radiater). Also it seems that the existence of air in the water cycle was causing a confusion with the temp reading and making the temp gauge flying into red and backing again.
It turned to be neither the coolant sensor (the brown plug) nor the earth cable.
Now the A/C is working normal because no high temp alarm.
Thank you all.

Yes. You are absolutely right DREWDEN. Sorry if I missed this in my previous posts

That sounds similar to the problem i have now encountered, except that the STOP sign AND High temp stays on and at max, with fan on. Water is not boiling, and cooling itself seems fine.
Could this be airlock as well?
