#1: PDR on rear quarter panel Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay I PostPosted: Sun Jul 28, 2013 3:36 pm

Hi guys

My car picked up a ding from a Range Rover Discovery - second dent to happen from one of these cars. It's only small but anyone who knows me will understand what I'm like. Sadly its on the rear quarter panel, an inch below the glass and a couple inches away from the door. I have a contact who is a pro at paintless dent repair but I'd like to know if it is possible on this panel as I've heard it is double skinned.

Thanks for any insight

You should be able to get in at it if you take the rear door card off mate. Knock the area with your knuckle and if it sounds hollow, a PDR guy *should* be able to get their tools in there.

Nah it's straight forward enough. You just need to move the doorcard out the way, so I wouldn't worry too much about unbolting the seatbelt and removing it completely.

To remove the rear door card its pretty easy Iv just done both of mine (on 3door) to change the speakers.
Just unbolt the 15mm anchor bolt for the seat belt, remove the door seal and it should just pull off with clips still in might take a good pull

Theyll be able to do it without removing the interior Andrew. I've had mine looked at and he'd have been able to do it just by work from the outside.

Thanks guys, I pulled the card back and found that the area seems to be workable from the, so at least the chances of it being successfully repaired are increased

How bad is it? Or is it just because you've had that part repainted?

Range rovers have horrible corners on their doors so its a proper dint, I'm happy to find it is accessible though

The fact that it has been painted shouldn't affect things hopefuly, because its paint on metal
