rear wheel bearing

#1: rear wheel bearing Author: Johnbyron, Location: Scunthorpe PostPosted: Mon Jul 29, 2013 1:22 pm

Good evening all Smile ,
Unfortunately iv been hearing a small huming noise from the rear which gets faster as you drive faster and now it starts to knock at 70mph, so I've came to the conclusion its the wheel bearing as the front went not too long ago.
But the problem is....
With the rears being brake disks is the hub and bearing a complete unit like on the cc's ??
The reason I think this is that the baring for the front was 30 then the hub was about 50 from euro car parts and when looking for a rear bearing it just states wheel hub but is 100 pounds and I cant see of any rear bearings listed ??

Help would be much appreciated,
Thanks Smile

Well iv checked for play and there's no play but I did notice my rear pads are really worn out and the disks aren't that good either so that explains the slight noise I can hear but then I checked the wheel because it knocks and iv notice there's a flat that's appeared on the inner rim which has probably knocked it way out of balance....
So all might be okay if I get the wheel balanced again Smile

get a new set of discs and brakes, and the sound will go away,it's the sound of the break pad touching the discs while you move.

Thanks timon, I thought it might have been the brakes as it seems im the only one that can hear it, but then again ever since my front wheel bearing went iv been listening for the smallest of noises haha
