#1: New owner, is this normal, clutch related. Author: Dinabrok, Posted: Sun Aug 04, 2013 6:38 am ---- I've just bought a 51 reg 206 LX but have noticed the bite point is quite high and barely noticeable which has made for some overrevving moving off. Is this normal and just something I need to get used to? Used to driving a 1.2 clio. Thanks.

There is no adjustment possible for the cable (it's with non-resetable auto mechanism).
Either the cable will have to be replaced, or the whole clutch set + cable as well.

Correct, but it can be right up the top and like ON or OFF kind of thing.
If it ain't slipping it should be OK for the trip though.
Put it in 1st gear with handbrake on, take it to 1500 rpm and gently let go of the clutch pedal. If it stalls the engine, it's a good indication the disk is still bitting quite well at least for now.

My clutch bite is very high! My old clutch was slightly higher, almost at the top, I got it changed due to knowing that it was at the end of it's life as the thurst bearing had dried up and started to eat through the forks, however, the new clutch with new cable still has a very high bite point compared to the other cars that I own.
OP - Do the clutch test as said above, that'll let you know

Driven it a bit more today . Still seems quite high but not excessively so. Main thing is barely noticeable or audible bite point!

The first gear with handbrake on is a brutal test for a clutch and the 4/5th gear test is perfectly adequate.
