Lost Key
-> 206 Problems

#1: Lost Key Author: GTSX, Location: Department 79 PostPosted: Mon Aug 05, 2013 1:07 am

I have only ever had one key for my 206 and now unfortunately it's been lost. The car is locked and sat outside my house. I know the key is somewhere in the house but that’s it (it could be in the dog)!

1/ Is there an easy way of getting in the car without causing any (not too much) damage?
If you know the answer to that you may want to PM me the answer otherwise loads of 206’s may be found open.

2/ Once in the car what do I need to do to get it going again?

Thanks

you should always have a second key. The hole you have bnow dug is going to be costly. You need to go to peugeot with your V5 and pay for a new key to be cut and new immobiliser code. £150-200 quid from what people say online.

It would be getting the car to the dealers so that they can pair the new immo chip to the car that could prove expensive. If you talk nicely to them, they might recover it at a reduced price since you are getting the work done by them.

If it's the old style key, not even sure if you can still get them from the dealers.

Where abouts are you? As if you get a new key with a virgin immo chip there are several members on here with peugeot plannet that would be able to come and code the new key in at a significantly reduced price.

You'll also need your key code, usually on a card you scratch off.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Found it

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Strangely in the hair clipper set.

Dealer told me to come in with the V5. From there they order a new key takes 3 - 5 days. Then they code the new key in. Complete job 100 for a non remote key and about 130 - 150 for a remote. That's parts and labour. Less recovery charge. The new key comes ready cut so you can get in the car and release the steering lock to move the vehicle.

Better get one just to be on the safe side.

Now to rebuild my house Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

take the key to a key cutter and get a spare. Timpsons do the key and chip for £40. Or if you know anyone with peugeot planet, then get the immobiliser chip for 99p off ebay and pay them a £10 to code it, Either way saves a lot of money for you, if you ever find yourself in this predicament again.

DOH!!!

Peugeot do a non remote key cut to the car & including the virgin transponder chip for a whopping £25.91 including the VAT Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Just need someone with Peugeot Planet to code it in & also the 4 digit alphanumeric security code to access the key coding in the BSI.

Useful to know! I can always programme it myself!

One of the first things I did was get an extra key so I have 3 in total.

My car has the 2 remote keys from factory & I got a non remote key cut & coded for keeping in my wallet as emergency spare.
