#1: play in front hub Author: steviebee, Location: kentPosted: Mon Aug 05, 2013 1:56 pm ---- Hi, had a drivers side ABS pick up ring brake on my 206 2.0 HDi Sport. So thought I would get the CV joint changed while the fitter was doing this. He changed CV, and now he has loads of play in the hub. He has replaced the wheel bearing and it is still the same. Any ideas, as he is now saying drive flange. What should have been a simple job is turning into a nightmare. He is a good mechanic and has been doing my cars for about 10 years so I trust him.

#3: Re: play in front hub Author: steviebee, Location: kentPosted: Mon Aug 05, 2013 4:09 pm ---- Thanks for your reply, I will ask him tomorrow. He thought at first it was the wrong CV. I checked with supplier (J-R from Birmingham) and the old and new CV both have 25 splines, so assume it is ok. he said he put old CV back in hub and it tightened up ok with no play. He replaced bearing and the noise it had was gone, but still loads of play. Wondering if there could be 2 types of CV joint for this for instance perhaps a tapered one? prior to this there was not a problem with it apart from the pick up ring.
Regards.

Also is there a washer before the hub nut goes on and if there is is it sided?
#5: Re: play in front hub Author: steviebee, Location: kentPosted: Tue Aug 06, 2013 1:25 pm ---- Turns out it was the new CV joint as he first suggested. Seems it was slightly different size than the old original one. Thanks for your replies much appreciated.
