#1: Manual air con blows out cold (Brrr!) but not hot Author: longshortchris, Posted: Fri Aug 09, 2013 11:25 am ---- As the topic states, my manual air con will blow out cold when it is turned on. I'm glad that it is at the moment.
But, when I go to work in the morning at 1-2:00 am, it would be great to demist the windscreen. The air con, when turned on & switched to hot, just blows out lukewarm air.
Any ideas, please?
Chris

#5: Re: Manual air con blows out cold (Brrr!) but not hot Author: longshortchris, Posted: Sat Aug 10, 2013 4:56 am ---- The air con should be blowing warm with one minute. It's more economical in time & fuel to turn the air con in the morning to demist the windcreen than sitting & waiting for my car (90 HDi) to warm up naturally. Which is rather silly IMHO.
I was hoping I could get some knowledgeable advise before I take it to the garage. I just wanted to know if a re-gas or a condenser replacement would be necessary.
Ah, well...

You obviously don't understand how air conditioning actually works.

Very true just I've never used.it to demist and if the OP's aircon isn't demisting his, just wondered why not use a cheaper easier alternative.

Err?
The aircon should be blowing warm & demisting my window whilst I'm on my way to work early in the morning. When the engine is warm (I have dials in front of me, do you?) I can then turn the aircon off.
It's a lot faster & economical than keeping the car in the driveway whilst you wait for your block to warm up.
In the winter, I start the engine & turn the aircon onto hot & on recycle. I then scrape off the ice on allof the windows & on my headlights. I get into the car & drive off. Aircon is not just for blowing cold air during an Indian Summer!
I was hoping for some creative & knowledgeable responses rather than the ignorant replies this thread has created.
Anyway, I've now booked it into an independent Citroen/Peugeot specialist who are only two miles down the road.
