Only way to find out is to take the drum off. From what I remember a new cylinder is less than £20 from ECP. You'll also need new brake shoes, and might as well get the fitting kit and auto adjusters as they will more than likely be caked in brake fluid and friction material dust.

If you are going to do this yourself then you will also need new staked nuts that hold the drums on and the torque on these is 148ft.lbs and that is more than a lot of 1/2 inch torque wrenches go up to. The nut size is 32mm.
The spring arrangement and automatic adjuster mechanism is a bit complex and fiddly so take photographs of both sides so that you know how it all goes back.

Mines a 2003 1.4 with drums but has no ABS. My dads 2006 1.4 with drums and ABS.
