#1: What can I do with my laptop on my pre-plex? Author: Jerakeen, Posted: Tue Aug 27, 2013 1:42 am ---- My GTI is a 1999 model so I know it doesn't have the CAN-BUS but does it still have OBDII and if so what can I do with it? Is there any advantage for me to get hold of one of the (rather expensive) interfaces to connect it up to my laptop?

You can do nearly everything essentially, it just means spending much more to get it all working.

What should I be looking out for when buying the reader? There seem to be a wide range of things on Ebay from about a tenner up to several hundred.
