#1: 206 gti mfd bulbs not working PLEASE HELP MORE INFO NOW Author: fish6634, Posted: Sun Sep 01, 2013 11:15 am ---- I tried to change the bulbs in my working mfd for some LED's, which worked for a couple of minutes now they are all dead. The mfd info is working its just that it isn't being back illuminated. Any ideas guys? It is multiplex Last edited by fish6634 on Sun Sep 08, 2013 6:44 am; edited 1 time in total

#3: Re: 206 gti mfd bulbs not working Author: fish6634, Posted: Sun Sep 01, 2013 3:20 pm ---- they worked at first and then died I have run 12v across them and they worked weird. Just going to try bulbs again as they all broke taking them out

#5: Re: 206 gti mfd bulbs not working Author: fish6634, Posted: Sun Sep 08, 2013 6:43 am ---- got a new bulb holder strip ( the part that the bulbs slot into and connects to the rest of the mfd ) changed the bulbs with new and guess what....................... STILL DEAD
The mfd works with regards to you can read the display and the info is there it is just that it is dim down to the bulbs not working. I can set the time and date which indicates that the rear bulb strip is working because the buttons to change time and date etc are on the bulb strip. I have checked all the fuses and non are blown. I have check the wiring all ok.
Someone mentioned about a bit of solder that can break off on the circuit board but the main pic which shows this on the thread is missing. I can only assume something like this can be the case because this is driving me mad now. the bulbs I used are 1.2w 12v which aren't genuine Peugeot which I cant see would make any difference.
Again they were working fine but I "decided" to change them to LED's, at first they worked then flickered went off came back on for a second and then went off and haven't been back on since no matter what I have tried.

I don't know if there's a difference between pre and multiplex - the guide was identical to my PPT30 in my preplex.
Where you see the pic of the board with the pin circled, and 2 holes next to it - that's a 3 pin connector - so 3 pins should be soldered into the board and covered by a white plastic plug. The plug and the 2 missing connectors have most probably come off when removing the upper circuit board and are still attached to the upper board. they need to be recovered and re-soldered to the lower board. the upper board has 3 corrssponding long metal pins that slide into the connector on the lower board to make the connection
It's a fiddly solder repair, made easier if you have a fine tip on your iron. If you're crap at soldering like me you could ditch the connector and solder wires between the 2 boards, but you have to shorten the pins on the upper board otherwise it's all a bit of a squash. It's only push fit in the original just for speed of assembly I should think.
Hope that helps.

#8: Re: 206 gti mfd bulbs not working PLEASE HELP MORE INFO NOW Author: fish6634, Posted: Sun Sep 15, 2013 6:10 am ---- 1. checked all the fuses all fine
2. changed the light bar that the bulbs twist into that also connects to the mfd board. I have run power through this seperatley using a 12v source and all three bulbs light up.
3. I have run power through the mfd board on the two pins that power the light bar when its connected and all three light up.
So the bulbs strip bar all seem fine the connection from the mfd board to the bulb bar is good.
One other thing I have noticed is that the hazard/lock switch no longer lights up at night and I am sure it used to. They also see to be on the same loom. I hope its related
