Fault code po130

I have fault code po130 which it says is 02 sensor circuit malfunction bank 1 sensor 1. Is this the lambada sensor, has I had new ones fitted about 6 months ago, and if so which one would it be.
Car still runs fine, I tried clearing fault and it stayed off for a while, but now it just keeps coming back.

Check the wiring and security of connector. It might not be the sensor.

If the sensors are the same swap them over and see if the fault follows the sensor.

NGK? That might be your problem ... I've had problems with them on other cars ... try Bosch.

And the two aren't the same .. the wiring lengths are different and this makes them react on the ECU differently.

Wires look fine, is there any way of checking the sensor has fault code po130 just keeps coming up every time its cleared.
Phoned the motor factors up where i brought it, they said ngk are the best, i need to pay for a new one while they send it off to ngk to see if its faulty. If it comes back its faulty then i will get my money back.
So i need to find out its that before i buy another one.

Check you haven't got any leaks or holes in the exhaust first ... that can upset the Lambda.

And 'course they will say NGKs are best .. they sell them. Someone sellin Bosch will says theirs is better and there are ebay sites selling naff Chinese copies that this theirs are the best ... Smile


But in my case, the NGK lambda fitted my Alfa was wrong as the ohm rating it was putting out was half of the Bosch. That was constantly causing the fault codes and wasn't doing the car any good. MPG went UP when I fitted the right part. You can get a Bosch universal kit, and patch that into the existing wiring ... saves a fair bit of money and no soldering necessary. I think it was just under £60 opposed to over £90. Buy a cheap 2nd hand one on ebay (doesn't matter if it's knackered as you don't need the sensor) and just use the wiring with the universal then get them to take the NGK back.

Might look for a cheap used one first just to make sure it is that. My exhaust is all new including the cat, brought it when got lambada sensor, so no holes or leaks there. I have spent quite a lot of money on the car in the last 6 months, head gasket went too so water pump and timing belt kit was done at same time.
Car runs well and i have done 3000 miles since i did the head , it dont smoke but i have noticed it uses more oil and i have to top rad up slightly after long runs, not by much but i never touched both before head was done.
There is also a slight oil mist line around the coolant bottle, not sure if its from when head went before, but i keep cleaning it and it keeps coming back.

Every experienced mechanic I know will recommend Bosch for sensors and no experienced Alfa mechanic will use anything else.

The problem has gone again, light is out so wondering if it has a doggy wire some where.

Its come back again code po130, i have cleaned all connectors cleared the code with code reader. Started the car but fault light still on, put code reader back on but its not showing any fault codes yet light is on. Any ideas please.

From your description of constant topping water and scum in water I suspect your head job is less than perfect!

Regards engine light still on with no stored codes someone else will have to help with that - that is, I think, very odd.

bikesforme: did you check that head wasn't warped before you put it back? Might be stopping it properly seating and leaving a very slight gap which will cause water and possibly oil loss.

I think 206 engine uses stretch bolts for head ... so are these too long now and also need replacing?

Head was checked and was fine, has for the head bolts they were all replaced in a full top end kit. I have noticed a very slight leak in the exhaust on middle section, so i will reseal that when i get time.
I have also noticed a gushing water noise coming from passengers side top dash, the car runs brill apart from when you start it up first thing from cold. Engine shakes alittle like its only running on 3 , but is fine once you drive it.
I would not say i top the oil up much, mainly after i have done a lot of miles, most of my driving is very short distance 2-3 miles. I put about half cup of antifrezze mixture in every week to keep it topped up.
The dipstick and oil filler cap are just showing clean engine oil, the oil mist in the rad bottle is just about cleared up. so i think that was from when gasket failed before, but i cought it before it totally went, car has never over heated.
Car is coming up to 140k and she runs very well after her morning shakes, i also replaced fuel injectors with brand new peugeot ones, water pump and timing belt kit when head was done.
