#1: cv joint Author: marv88, Location: aldeburgh suffolkPosted: Thu Sep 12, 2013 12:27 pm ---- hello all ive posted here a few times i recently got my self a 51 plate gti and have done much work to it, rear axle, front and rear discs and calipers handbrake cables, full engine service, passenger wishbone the list goes on......anyway im on my final part. drivers outer CV joint! does the whole shaft have to come out for me to change this or not and any tips! id much rather keep it in. thanks

Make sure the lip is clean otherwise the gaitor will just slip off and inside the joint is packed with grease!

,and don't forget to put the metal clips before the gaiter on the small end.
