#1: gear box noise whine! Author: luna_mick, Posted: Mon Oct 07, 2013 5:32 pm ---- my gear box started to whine and chatter slightly a few hundred miles ago . altho it dosent feel clonky or stiff to change gear no clutch slip or vibrations just a high pitche whine and on the down chane a chatter .
now iv herd somewhere youre suposed to change gear oil 80-90 thou is this true or not and if so what oil is it .
if it knackered what should i be paying for a deacent one .
or take a risk on a gt lump and box
oh i drive the y reg 206 1.6xsi 3dr its on 86thou

I doubt it would be fixed by a gearbox oil change but could try. I changed my gearbox oil on 100,000km's (60-ish k miles) just out of precaution and the gearbox smoother to shift around. Though best to just bring it to a proper mechanic to diagnose, afterall if you're going to have to do gearbox work, you'll likely have to replace the oil anyways.
